Plum, this is terrible! I've just packed my best suitcase for our trip from Scotland to my second most favourite beach. By the time I get there on Sunday they might have eaten the whole thing! Can't you organise a mass demonstration of Aldeburgh dogs? Lying down in front of them is the traditional method I believe, accompanied by a tasteful chorus of 'We shall not be moved'. This is your moment to save our best bit of the planet and lead dogkind into a brave new future. You too could have a statue by the boating lake.... I'll bring an extra long lead to chain myself to the fence by your side, and some nice fresh venison burgers to keep everyone going. Be brave and remember, reinforcements are coming. Salutations, Fudge xxx
Dear Fudge, Are you there now? It is a bit hopeless, isn't it? I mean it will be good when they've finished, but right now we can't go on the beach… At least there are still the marshes. Maybe I'll see you soon! Love Plum xx
Dear Pluum, What a disaster! I would ask you over, but we're having problems with huge machines too. One of our local farmers is now semi-retired, and does bits of gardening for people in the village. Our neighbour asked him to dig over his flower beds, and he turned up with a plough. It was quite a sight, and very noisy as well. As Emma once so rightly observed, there are some very interesting people in our village. love, James PS. Isn't the weather lovely?
Dear James, Well, it WAS lovely, but now it's awful and Emma has a cold so she doesn't want to go anywhere or do anything. It's SO BORING. I hope there are some flowers left in your neighbour's flowerbed. Love Plum xx
Dear Plum, I too could add to the reinforcements when I come down in June. How utterly frustrating when there is all that beach to run on and dig up and not be allowed. What is a dog to do? Love Alf
Dear Alf, We need to help them move the boulders. They are doing it but they're a bit slow. Or we need to find a way through the fence. Or we have to go somewhere else. But I really like waves and there aren't any on the marsh. See you soon, I hope. Love Plum x
Dear Guy, I am very sorry you are sad. I hope you aren't still sad - I think that was yesterday. I would love to be able to cheer you up. I am sending you 100 licks, on your face and up your nose especially. And a big hug. xxx Plum
