Intense Boredom

  1. Dear Plum,

I guess this little game is your version of "I spy with my little eye". Anything to stave off the boredom... And keep Emma on her toes!

    Big belly scratch from,

    1. Dear Ellie,

Because my alphabet is a little bit haphazard, Emma never gets any of the clues I give her, so the game goes on for hours until we have to give up because Emma starts falling asleep at the wheel. That can be a bit too exciting sometimes.
      Lots of love

  2. Poor Emma! It would be kinder to develop your own vocalisation of 'Are we there yet?'and sing it to her regularly to help her stay awake....

    Much love, Fudge xx

    1. Dear Fudge,
Is that what you do? I would love to hear you sing. I haven't really perfected the art yet. I am very good at whining though.

  3. Plum, you are so funny! I can totally see this happening! Miss Tulip is strapped into a car seat so she is safe and high enough to look out the window. When she gets bored she curls up and goes to sleep. Maybe you need a comfy car seat so you can nap? xoxoxoox, Vicki and Tulip

    1. Lucky Tulip. You obviously care about her a lot. It sounds like a good idea to have a car seat. I've never seen one here. Sometimes I have my basket strapped in with the seat belt which is quite good. Usually I just go to sleep on the front seat.
Thank you for your other lovely message about my Grandpa. It meant a lot to us.

  4. This one made me laugh out loud, which is quite embarrassing at the library. James

  5. How dull when there are so many puddles to jump into, sticks to chew, squirrels to chase, ducks to bark at. Why does she sit in the box-on-wheels-that-goes-fast? Maybe she needs reminding about what else there is to do...

  6. How true. But does she listen to me? Nope. I don't listen to her much either. In fact we are on a new regime at the moment. She is trying to reassert her place as Top Dog- too late.
But still, I don't know how to get her to stop driving. Love Plum xx

  7. Yo Plummie...since you and I are buds, I'm going to share one of my best kept secrets with you: if you want Emma to pay attention to you in the car, you must play the "I think I'm going to sick up all over the back seat" game. It works LIKE A CHARM. My mom ALWAYS pulls the car over and takes me for a little walk until she's quite sure that my tummy is ok. You can extend this time by actually looking like you're about to sick up. Seriously, it never, ever gets old. You're welcome.

    XoXo,
Nick (and Elizabeth who went to England a couple weeks ago and LEFT ME HOME. Something about quarantine or some such nonsense.)

  9. Dear Nick, I don't know how to thank you for such an invaluable piece of scheming. I have quite a few tricks up my sleeve but that is an exceptionally smart one and I shall look forward to using it. There hasn't been a chance lately because Emma went on holiday, without me. I had a fantastic time though, staying with my sister and my aunt who are just as nice as Emma and my daddy…maybe nicer.
    Love Plum xxx
