  2. They are not always so stupid though. In Kensington Gardens last summer, I noticed one run up a tree. I then settled down against the trunk to have a sandwich. I was just eating and watching the passing dogs, when bits of stick and leaf started to fall on my head. I looked up, and saw the squirrel furiously throwing the debris at me to get me to move. I obligingly shuffled along to the next tree. The squirrel descended, and scuttled away with a resentful backward glance. Resourceful fellow.

  4. Exactly right, Plum. Do not dignify them with the least bit of notice.
I believe that's how the Queen deals with insolent, impertinent, little upstarts too.

    1. Dear Hilarie
I am always absolutely in tune with you. And the Queen is an excellent example to follow.

  5. And up here in the frozen north they are even more annoying because if you so much as sneeze at one you get banished in disgrace to biscuitless prison. My mum spends more on organic hazelnuts than on my whole treat allowance. Also, they are a very funny colour (are they just hot all the time?)and I can't understand a word they say.....so I'm copying your example of dignified disregard.
    Much love, Fudge xx

    1. Dear Fudge,
Your life sounds so difficult. Do they really put you in prison? And does your mother eat your treats as well? And the squirrels up there sound even worse than the shabby things down here. Poor, poor Fudge. My sympathies are all yours.

  6. Plum! I agree. I sometimes sprint in their general direction, but I'm definitely not chasing them. If I was chasing them I'd catch them. Even if I had to climb a tree to get to them. I could definitely climb a silly tree. If I wanted to. I definitely don't want to though. 🙄

    2. Dear Archie
I could easily climb a tree too. Nothing to it. But why would I want to? It's perfectly nice down on the ground. It doesn't look at all comfortable in the branches, and they're all full of those awful squirrels anyway. Thank you for concurring, comrade.

  7. Emma do you sell prints of your drawings? My little friend Lola has some serious feelings about squirrels, too. I would love to give this to her people...they would love it!
